As an avid reader, I love those moments when I pick up a book and find it impossible to put down. Held captive and unaware of anything going on around me, it’s like I’m in a time warp. Half an hour passes, but the next time I check the clock it’s been nearly two hours…
There have been a few series recently that have taken me prisoner. The first is Bloodlines by Richelle Mead and the second is the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Mass. While the two authors hold me spellbound, I love their writing techniques. They both manage to keep me turning the pages because even when there is no action, such as battles and wars, there is always an underlining streak of anticipation on every page. Hand me a large bar of chocolate and you wont see me all day!
While both young adult series are hypnotically captivating, they are both very different. The contemporary Bloodlines protagonist, Sydney, is a smart, strategic thinking Alchemist who starts to listen to her heart. However, the fantasy Throne of Glass heroine, Celaena, is an extremely impulsive, passionate assassin who asks questions later. Both very different and both have very strong voices.
I suggest you check them out…
