What do you think about books making that evolutionary step to the big screen? Are you for it, or against it?
Take the Lord of the Rings for example. I hadn’t read the book and yet I fell in love with The Fellowship of the Ring movie. The movies were epic and it spurred me on to read the brilliance that is J.R.R Tolkien’s work. It’s understandable that Authors dream of that now attainable goal of seeing their stories come to life on the big screen. I can’t deny it – I want it to happen to Witch Hunt. How could I not strive for that? Real life Dorian and Oliver people! I would want it to be executed perfectly though.
A television series can be just as effective. The Vampire Diaries is a very successful series. Plus, need I mention the TV hit series Game of Thrones? No, it speaks for itself – totally awesome! We need the brilliance that is George R.R. Martin’s work in our lives.
On the other hand… I think that a bad rendition of a book can kill its interest. It’s unfortunate, but it happens. Would you give the Author’s pride and joy the benefit of the doubt and read the book anyway? Or would you be put off? Be honest now! Or would you think you don’t need to read the book because you watched the movie instead? Either way, it gets the Author’s name out there and who wouldn’t want to be a household name if they could?
If Witch Hunt took that leap and was made into a movie, which actors and actresses would you pick for which characters?
FYI, books I would like to see made into movies are: The Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas and the Belgariad series by David Eddings. Haven’t read his stuff yet? You absolutely must!
